The Great Trossachs Forest Access Information
The Scottish Outdoor Access Code gives you the right of responsible access in Scotland. Please familiarise yourself with the Scottish Outdoor Access Code guidance provided, and make sure you are aware of what you should and shouldn’t do in the outdoors before you arrive.
Camping guidance
When planning a trip, check if you are allowed to camp at your chosen location. Wild camping is permitted in Scotland, however there are Camping Management Byelaws in place in popular parts of The Great Trossachs Forest from March to September. In these areas, you will need to get a permit before you can camp. You might prefer to stay at an official campsite with more amenities such as toilets and showers. Be sure to book in advance, as you will not be able to book once you arrive.
Campfire or stove
The Access Code says: wherever possible use a stove rather than light a fire.
Human waste
What to do when you need a poo and there is no loo.
Access to water
Be well prepared before getting into water and enjoy the experience safely.
Cycling
Getting on your bike is a great way to explore The Great Trossachs Forest. Be a responsible cyclist and make sure it doesn’t negatively impact wildlife, other visitors, and local people that live and work in the area.
Dog walking
Enjoying time in the countryside with your four-legged friend is a great way to relax, unwind and get some much needed fresh air and exercise. Know your dog, keep it under control, keep it and livestock safe, and clean up as you go.
Wildlife
Spotting stunning wildlife can be the highlight of a trip out. Keep your distance so wildlife is not disturbed and magical encounters can be experienced again.
