A range of research is currently being carried out within The Great Trossachs Forest

Each partner organisation is currently monitoring the impact of grazing on site.

The James Hutton Institute has been conducting research on the impacts of grazing at Glen Finglas. For details of the project and the papers they have published visit their project website.

The Scottish Forest Alliance members are carrying out long-term monitoring at The Great Trossachs Forest:

  • to record how the emerging forest ecosystems develop.
  • to monitor the ability of these new forests to absorb carbon from the area.
  • to inform the debate on climate change.
