Around Loch Katrine

An exhilarating cycle along the shores of Loch Katrine is a great way to experience the Loch and to see local wildlife.

Look out for pine marten, otters and pied flycatchers. Combined with a trip on the Steam Ship Sir Walter Scott (from either Trossachs Pier or Stronachlachar) this is a 13 mile trip on roads with some hilly sections.

Bike hire is available at the Trossachs Pier. Please note this route follows a private road and so cars share the road with cyclists.

Around the Mell

A strenuous circular route from the village of Brig o’ Turk takes you around Glen Finglas, climbing to 600m at the summit.

Start from the Lendrick Hill car park and follow the Lendrick top loop before joining the track around Glen Finglas and Glen Meann.

Old Military Road

A 3.7 mile walk from Stronachlacher along the historic Old Military Road to Inversnaid and the shores of Loch Lomond.

On the way you can enjoy wonderful views of Loch Arklet, where you may see black-throated divers in summer.

For a longer cycle, take the forest tracks from Aberfoyle to the new Statute Road to Stronachlachar. For a more extreme ride, continue along the shores of Loch Katrine and then back to Aberfoyle via the Duke’s Pass.
